Learning objectives

Students will be able to 

- List the basic elements to be used in the evaluation of a drug.

- Identify the different groups of drugs, the principles of their authorization, use and indication, and the mechanisms of action of the same.

- Instruct the patient and / or relatives about the correct way to obtain a maximum efficacy of a drug.

- Identify the valuation elements for the prescription of a drug or product according to the need of the patient / user.

- Describe the medications by evaluating the expected benefits and the associated risks and / or effects derived from its administration and consumption.

- Use the sources of information in pharmacology and how to use them.

Development plan

The classes are structured in theoretical and practical sessions, as well as the study of clinical cases in a group and / or individual way.

The detailed schedule will be delivered to the students at the beginning of the academic year.

Alternative assessment:

In order to facilitate the student to be able to combine study with work activities, the student who wishes to resign shall be entitled to continuous assessment at the beginning of the course.

This alternative assessment will consist in a final exam,  the same day  corresponding to continuous assessment. First part exam with 50 multiple choice questions (erroneous answers subtract 0.25 points) worth 5 points and  second part with five open questions including clinical cases (5 points).

ABSENCE JUSTIFICATION OF THEORETICAL-PRACTICAL SUBJECTS

In relation to absence justifications, the reasons for which the absence is considered to be justified, will be the same as those stated in the Regulations for Assessment and Qualification of Teaching in Degrees and Masters at the UdL for failure to attend the assessment tests scheduled in the teaching guide or on the degree website.

For the rest of situations derived from health, personal or family problems, the student will be allowed to change the day and recover the seminar during the week, if possible.

Justification or absence requests that entail failure to appear for an evaluation test must be submitted on the same absence day. The rest absence justifications must be submitted within the following 10 days.

In general, the student will only be excused the absence, but not the lack of compliance with their academic commitments.
